cooling system part discontinued by VW

Hello Everybody,
I hope somebody can help sourcing this part on the cooling system.
Its a plastic pipe from the overflow tank to the right hand side of the engine block. Part number 025 121 160C.
It has basically disintegrated. VW have it as discontinued stock.
I assume all waterboxers have the same part but just in case this is on a 1987 caravelle 2.1DJ auto with power steering.
I am based in Kent although the caravelle is currrently off road in Fife, Scotland (long story).
Thanks for your help
Graham

Graham, the pipe you are after is it the one which runs round the inside of the engine bay cover ? if it is early fitted ones were metal and the later ones were replaced with plastic,,,,,,,,most of the breakers who use this site will have them in stock,,,,,,,,,

I've even seen one of these succesfully made from 15mm copper and Yorkshire fittings

( you can tell they were Yorkshire fittings 'cos they're a bit tight round the corners

)

I would not advise introducing copper into the cooling system as it may lead to differential electrolitic corrosion due to copper being top of the electro valent scale and the steel and alu/mag alloy in the system much lower down - this is the principle by which a steel boat in water has sacrificial anodes which dissolve rather than the steel of the hull. In the wbx case the case verses studs corrosion is the important thing, you don't want the studs to corrode and snap.

I'm sure you're absolutely right Aidan but What the blithering heck did that lot ^^^^ mean
BTW it was in a van formerly owned and run by a plumber

and I'm absolutely sure the breakers have loads of these bleed rings kicking round in stock
Ian.

Gaml,
got a couple of pipes in the garage

so if you want to pop over on Sunday, and point at said pipe in my engine bay, we can see if we have the one you mean! Not sure from your description which one it is.

Do you mean item #19 (i.e. the tiny outlet flange off the head ?) listed as "025121160D FLANSCH 8.75 Euro" so therefore should be available from Der Fatherland.
Ian.
