Just in the process of sizing up some LT mirror arms to fit on the van. I've read as much as I can find about the pros & cons of using these over real Syncro arms and the differences etc, but I have these so am going with them.

The Wiki says "To attatch the LT or Syncro mirrors B5.5x16 according to ETKA. Stainless... Countersunk.. " and Vagcat lists B5.5x16 AND B5.5x22 for the top brackets and AM6x20SP CSK bolt for the bottom bracket. I don't really get on well with metric numbers and screw sizes and have begun to loose it from this point on

:?: So the really stupid bit is "Where do I get these from ?? Can anyone point me to a sympathetic fastener dealer that will sell me the right things please, and what's the score with the 2 different lengths listed on Vagcat for the top bracket screws?

All help gratefully appreciated and all p*** taking received with a smile.

Cheers guys

Andi

for starters  The bottom ones are 'standard' M6 x 20mm long Countersunk screws, can't help you with the other sizes, they appear to be 5.5mm diameter self-tapping screws or something, there's no captive nuts in the door up there and M5.5 doesn't exist as a standard thread to my knowledge.

Ian.

P.S. you may choose to be carefull with your thread title in future :rofl

I fitted mine by using on original hole for the front of the bottom brkt, as there are no holes for the top brkt and the rear holes of the bottom brkt dont line up etc I used M8 sainless steel rivinuts and then fitted it with countersunk socket head bolts the only one i used a self tapper in was the tiny hole in the top brkt!!!

Thanks for the replies, believe me, I took a long time over that title.
Rivnuts seem to be the way forward for the top brackets looking at jamesc76's pics and explanation
Looks like I'm off for a new tool tomorrow then....
