Good idea to speak to Propex about it.
As for service/overhaul.

Propex heaters are designed so as to not require servicing. The only moving part is the fan. The unit is just a heat exchanger with a burner chamber with an air inlet & the exhaust outlet under the van. Air is drawn from the camper interior into the heater chamber & then expelled by the fan back into the interior.
Carbon particles can build up on the burner & could be vacuumed off if you dismantle the unit. Check the inlet/exhaust grilles & also the plastic grilles inside your camper. Check the wiring in case it hase come into contact with the hot surface of the unit or exhaust.

Thanks for the advice gents, I think I will strip it out when time permits and make sure its clean with nothing where it shouldn't be, looks like fun removing it-I'm not sure how I remove the part of the cupboard that its mounted in underneath the cooker.
If I still get problems I'll have to see if I can locate a Propex agent here in Jersey but the Propex website doesn't list one.
