What is the best way to clean the removable covers on the mattresses from a Westy? Is it just a case of popping them in the washing machine or should they be dry or steam cleaned or something?

Sorry, don't know the types of seat covering from all vans!

most covers can take a 40 wash, just don't hot tumble dry them.

We have the Grey velour on the bottom bed, and other grey fabric on the upper, and the wife just put them in the washer at 40, came out fine.
Even washed the Velour one twice to get rid of the smell of the diesel spilt on it.

put the covers back on when there damp it makes it easyer for them to be put on as they shrink when they dry out

WHATT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, with all due respect macc.......do not ever put the covers back on wet all you will achieve is making your foam damn and at some point mouldy.
I took mine off and washed them on a 30 deg wash with mild detergent and a smidge of conditioner, let them dry naturally either on the line or over a radiator. Putting covers on tight fitting foam is never an easy job but it is dooable just don't put too much tension on the zip. Bend the foam and fit the bottom corners first, when it comes to the zip end push the foam down with one hand and then SLOWLY zip it up.

who said anything about putting covers on wet, i have never had any problems with foam or covers going mouldy this would only happen if the covers were never allowed to dry out ie stored in a damp place allow the seats to dry out before putting back in the van.
