The rear springs on my syncro van are a little tired.

The van seems to "sag" a little at the back end.

I need to replace one of the shock absorbers so may as well do them both and the springs while I'm there.

I want to lift the van by a couple of inches.

It seems as though the springs are a VW main dealer only item, at stock length then i have to put a spring spacer under the rear coil.

Seems like a long way around to give the van a lift.

Does anyone make longer springs?

Has anyone done this before?

gen VW springs (new or a good second hand set) and some spacers isnt a "long way around".... its easy... and works very well
Longer (or prob only much much stiffer) springs are available from Siekel (Spelling!!) but cost a lot and make the ride very firm.....

I needed a new pair of rear springs for MOT, VW quoted about £125 each for standard springs.

Thats the price I was quoted for new genuine springs.

I have a pair of standard height 2wd springs kicking about if they are any use to you.

I guess they won't be as long as Syncro ones.

Standard springs with a 2" spacer is the way to go. You will need longer rear shocks as well. Mr Baxter should have them in stock. To see what it looks like, go to my garage and have a look at the mod I did.

What spring arrangement is on the front end?

What's the name of your alloy wheels? Those are the ones I like.

The front shocks are 16" Boge and the springs are 50mm longer all supplied by Buschmiede in Germany. Im thinking of reverting back to standard front springs and spacers at the front as the arrangement is too hard for my liking as my van is quite light. Would suit a camper better.

The alloys are Ronal 7x15 ET22 or ProjektZwo 7x15 ET22 depending on what the centre cap says!! I bought 12 of them on German E Bay and refurbed them locally. The tyres are 225/70/15 Contis

Longer rear shocks really need the high angle cv joints (on a 14") otherwise they will be running past their limits... you dont need longer shocks when fiitting the spacers, works fine with the standard ones... especially if you have a hevier camper.. the longer shocks will allow better articulation though...

My camper is super heavy, and has been all it's life, and the springs are well down on where they should be, about 3 inchs lower than syncroswedes multivan 16". This does not seem to have a negative effect when off roading, as the travel is still the same, just with more extension - less compression. My heavy camper makes full use of articulation despite those old springs. They are on the shopping list though, and it will suprise no one to hear that if the standard springs are still available, then that is what I shall have. The weight definately keeps all 4 wheels on the ground. Stronger springs will have a negative effect on this, requiring more difflock when off roading.

Dont agree there Si...... Dave's (KrankenWagen) camper has the same spacers on his rear springs as on mine but uses standard shocks instead. Driving up my lane makes his shocks crash out on full rebound all the time whereas mine does not. I have not had any CV joint issues (yet) but will keep an eye out.

Well I have TD spacers on the back of my doka with stock shocks and it doesnt noticably top out, now I am sure it does as there isnt the greatest of travel.... thats why I have the HD cv's and a set of Bricky's longer shocks... should help its offroad ability....

I fitted the spacers as the a*** end was always clonking on stuff, its a small increase, but seems to work well...

Anyone tried go westy's set up or seen it might email them to see if they work out if they can get their supplier in germany to ship within europe as the shipping costs from the states are huge.

I lifted my pickup about an inch with spacers front and rear. Offroad I bottom-out noticeably less. I used the 20mm alloy front spacers from Syncro-Services, at the rear I used a disc made from plastic chopping-board, sandwiched between two of the normal rubber discs. It does now top-out occasionally, but I can live with this.

Quite a few of us have tried this route Paul. Go Westy are not in the slightest bit interested in getting their German supplier to ship within Europe. The amount of paperwork involved to do this isnt worth it. Their supplier in Germany is bound to Go Westy and cannot supply anyone else with these springs as they are supposed to be a Go Westy design.
There is someone on here with a set of their springs though. I think Syncronutz had the van in their place about a year ago when I saw them.
