Is there a problem with mixing oil grades, ie a 10/40, 15/40 and a 20/50 ?

If they are all mineral (non sinthetic) and your topping it up it'll be fine. If its for an oil change better to just put the right grade in rather than mix, not know exactly what you've got and worry - proper oil/maintinance is much cheeper than engine repair, though if its near the end of its life I'd be less bothered.

It will change the viscosity (how easy the oil flows) of the oil in the sump,

and the mixture will assume the properties of the cheapest oil you used.

Best as a tempory solution
