CV joint front-easy?

Hi all - not particularly mechanically gifted but nasty new vibration at front of truck appears to be cv joint connected to front diff -rubber shot, grinding noises and play (..well deduced Sherlock!)

This appears a simple job and same as rear cv joint? or are there less obvious complications being a syncro an all?
and parts easily available?

I assume this only in use when 4x4 kciks in so if I took off prop should still be ok to drive while ordering parts? -no damage could be caused to front diff etc?

Can anyone confirm/advise? :?

Cheers,

tis easy job, carefull not to snap anti roll bar link when undoing the 17mm nut, shaft is in constant use if the vc is working ok but its fine to drive around in rear wheel drive if you split the joint off the shaft and put it back through the wheel bearing as it holds it together, ive got all the parts here either new or used, cheers cj.

Lost me a bit there -can't just take the prop off then as will be still going round?

Have you got a price for new one plus rubber boot please? its the passenger side where joins to the front diff (although they all look the same)- do you post as a bit far to collect?
Actually -will also take a good look over to see if any other boots needed at same time.
And will take look on wiki how to do it ta!

Cheers

aha...seek and ye shall find ...found kit on brickwerks.

So front inner syncro cvj is same as standard cvj to non syncro rear drive shafts? :?
