Hi All!
I have just started the very daunting task of refitting a kitchen into my t25, Would somebody be able to provide me with information on what i am supposed to provide for gas bottle storage. Do i need to purchase a metal type locker for a bottle or is a retaining strap suffice?

Bottle should be secured against rolling about in a cupboard, and have a vent in the floor to the outside, as the gas is heavier than air.
also I would have have a cut off switch to the appliance other than the one on the bottle

You can get a gas bottle storage drum, it sits in the floor (which means cutting a firking big hole in your bus).
There is one on German ebay at the moment (150 yoyos though!).

I use a heavy duty bungee cord which fastens to a couple of hooks in the cupboard.

My two 7Kg bottles conveniently jam diagonally in the cupboard which has a close fitting door with latches and about four 2" dimeter holes in the bottom covered with plastic nett stuff so as to keep out the meeces! I thought of metal lining it but figure if it was that bad on fire I would probably be legging it by then.

I'm fairly sure that "technically" a gas bottle is supposed to be stored in a "fireproof locker" of some description. I'm not sure about the exact law with regards to older vehicles like ours, but certainly on new ones (and possibly new conversions??) The answer I was given some time ago to the same basic question as yours, with regards to our Westy interior and gas storage was "to line out the existing cabinet with fire rated ply and seal the joins to produce as close to a proper gas locker as possible, including vents in the floor". We went for this option and have the bottle secured to the side of the cabinet with a strap.

Basically it's just holes in the floor with some sort of mesh over them.
They need to be open all the time and not covered with anything. You can buy "special" vents (like these on *bay item number 130285809007)
but you can probably find others too

PS Heard you the first time......

Forgot to say the same *bay seller also does securing straps, regs & hoses.
I've bought from them myself, a few years ago and they were pretty helpful
