DIY Store = 1.8 metre x .6 metre x 12mm £14 - £17
Builders merchant = 8ft x 4ft x 12mm £19

Roughly twice as much for ya money! :D

Having built a couple of small boats, the quality of the ply is the most important thing. Some stuff is really really poor quality - loads of voids, and cheap softwood in the sandwich. Depends on use of course - but proper exterior ply is expensive - but will last a whole lot longer. Cheap can be false economy.

Blimey! 2 1/4 as much if DIY is £15-50 a sheet, nearly 2 1/2 as much at £17

So what happened to the old (convenient) 6 x3 sheets, 1.8 x .6 ? - that's barely 6' x 2'

Damn sure in the 60's you could buy plyboard at 6 x 3 as well as 8 x 4

Even WBP ply isn't bustingly good - and marine ply's like £££££

I always make sure that I pick my own board at the builders merchant, that way with an assistant (son) you can rummage down through the stack and find an unblemished perfect piece, even in the cheaper standard board, no-one seems to mind. Go scruffy and ask for a discount, you need 20 to 40% imho to make the price fair compared to people in the trade.
