If you put a new pulley on an already worn crank thats why it did not last long. A 1Z crank will fit straight in. Before you get a crank check for broken lifters, bent valves, bent con rods, squashed big end bearings, top ring being stuck in piston.

That's a shame, they either right or they're not... those pulley ends.
We may have a crank around somewhere, Corby area... PM and I'll check

it was running sweet only came to it and wouldnt go the crank altough used was pin point perfect and the pully was a tight fit just when we checked the timing it kept moving when we set the tenisoner so looks like a new 1z crank not a happy bunny to say the least

Glad you know what's there,
No AAZ bits but there's 1Z engines and 99% certain a 1Z block.

It will have bent or squashed something else AAZ's always do, even getting a crank without looking is daft, there is a good chance you have a scrap engine.

Take note of all of the above but beware, the1z nose has a better timing
gear lock, but can fail in the same way, if abused/neglected, so check it out first.
In fact anyone buying a tdi engine should check it out,the timing gear crank sprocket wears on the lip eventually.
Oh yes, I forgot (this is an E D I T), use new factory stretch bolts on the flywheel/crank to stop problems at the other end.

Its very rare to have problems with the 1Z crank. Flywheel to crank bolts can be used lots of times witholut problems although vw state replace.
