High mileage - still worth it?

*Seriously* considering our first - a 1989 diesel. Body and seams seem good, new clutch, and the engine is recently reconditioned, (so that's OK), but there's 185,000+ miles on the clock, which seems high. Should I worry, or is this normal for what is after all a workhorse? Advice most welcome...!

185k on a diesel - is nothing. Diesels tend to last appx. 400k, assuming you take care of them.

The suspension may need doing (unless done).
Body work is the only thing that you need to worry about

Well, thanks for the responses. Couldn't find any significant rust on the body, so we've gone ahead and done it now.
Think we've joined the club...!

What sort of diesel is it?
I'll be pleased to hear of any diesel T25's that have done 400k!
Seriously underpowered engines dont go that far - my 1.7 did 165k before it packed up...
Anyway, as said before - the engine is the easy bit - so dont worry about that - keep servicing it and things should be fine.
If it goes pop, slap another one in!
