Poor Quality Parts Again......not VW.(Update)

I was asked if I would like to fit a heater matrix to an old shape Escort van for a mate of mine, as he didn't fancy taking it on which was expected to be a 5 hour job .

Anyway so far I have had the dash board and heater box out and back in again on 3 occasions over the last 4 months to replace faulty parts which were supplied by a reputable radiator company from Liverpool.

To eliminate and doubts regarding the motor/cooling system various things have been checked and replaced just incase it was pressurising the system and buggering the rads , eg sniff tested caps replaced etc.

Then in the last month it was replaced yet again (by me) but this time with genuine FMC parts ,,,,,,,but still it failed after a week or 3

Our local Franchise dealer accepted the job and went on to replace the unit which has failed yet again........But they have refused to go any further till tests have been carried out by themselves...

I belive and have proved each time there is a bad batch of replacement heater rads both aftermarket and genuine for this model of vehicle as they have all failed in the same place due to poor quality metal used on the core.

The only solution we can come to is to find a good used matrix from a similar age vehicle and hope this will solve the problem.

Any Thoughts or suggestions ?

A friend of mine has a Fiesta. Boiled over the other week when it got stuck in a traffic jam (I mean a jacusi/steam room under the bonnet not just the hot part of the temp guage). The owner just accepted this, aparently its pritty normal for a car to get hot if you get stuck in a traffic jam for a bit (humm). I can't wait for the thing to die, but she recons I'm a bit rude about it. (I might have been too honest at how badly it'll fail its next MOT, and that was without useing the phrase "excessive corossion")

So I got to fit yet another heater rad to this van and guess what the Genuine item was found to be faulty for the unpteenth time.

A good second hand unit was re fitted in the hope of that being the end of it....
