Had our 1988 Westy serviced back in the summer and they had trouble getting an air filter to fit. Fine, we thought, we've got contacts! Ordered one from Just Kampers and it's completely wrong! Anyone else had this problem? Where can we get the right one from? Any ideas appreciated!

If the one you have fits snuggly simply take it with you to any motor factors (even Halfords) and match it up to one on the shelf.

That's what I'd anyway....

Thanks for your replies so far, but it's an odd one!
It's a German import 1.9 petrol wasserboxer. The air filter is a Bosch unlike any we've seen before.
Hope these images work. It's our first time![/url]

Not the success we were hoping for on the picture front, but if you're really keen then the web address does work!
What DID we do wrong? We were so proud of ourselves too!

That air filter was fitted to imported VW's on the 2.1 and the 1.9 injected models, it is available from VW but will cost you in the region of £40 - £60, it is not available as an aftermarket spare, the round UK one for the DJ is an adequate replacement and fits the air box, it will cost you about £5 for the UK one.

Thats the "100,000km" or "dusty" conditions filter.. just fit the standard "round" type under "normal" use...

Thanks! We knew someone would be able to help. Planning to go round Europe a bit next year, so would be great to give him a full service. Garage couldn't find one to fit so just cleaned up old one last time.
Round one it is - don't think Switzerland and Italy are that dusty!

Yeah, it's just the ones as noted used for dusty places usually found on syncros but can be happily substituted for a C1996 from the Mann range.
Mann do make a replacement one, but there are none in the country.
