Problem - Stuck in Germany

Hi,

We're currently touring the Christmas markets in the Rhineland and have a problem with the van. Last night a relay under the dash (LHD drivers side) starting ticking and causing the vans power to blip when it ticked. We're running on gas at the moment and didn't think much of it.

At the overnight stop I switched onto petrol as I was using the Eber, but now the van won't run on petrol.

I can start the van, but as soon as I pull away it stalls. Normally it is fine on petrol.

I'm away to check all the relays, but if anyone has any suggestions that would be great.

Thanks

Matt

Thanks Ian,

The gas is fine, I'm not sure if part of the system that switches over isn't working correctly. If I don't find a faulty relay I'll phone Steve.

The van is a 2.1 running a carb set up with an early type fusebox.

On the fuel line into the carb from the petrol pump there should be a manual override switch so you can turn it to petrol should the solenoid switch fail.

if you have a "buzzing" or "ticking" relay, i'd say its a earth problem in the engine bay??

Most likey not connected to the petrol problem tho........

Are you still on the electric fuel pump?? with the flow reducer inline?
Its not unknown for that to be at fault....... (and in which case you wont have a fuel cutoff solenoid either possibly- so no manual over-ride)

and your ebber is feeding from the wrong pipe if you need to switch to running on petrol for it to work!
