Mine was doing that for ages before the water pump went. Check the bearing on the pump.

Light (LED) does both things, over-temp and also the water level in the top tank (blue pressure cap) there will be a sender screwed into the tank, with a two-wire plug on it.

Like i said mine kept flashing for ages. Had it all checked over by a mechanic and he couldn't find anything wrong. Changed the sender and checked all connections. Still kept doing it. The first time was very scary as we were driving through France and it was about 40 degree's.

and check the connections on the dash pod are good and clean, and that the wire from the senders isnt damaged by heat, causing it to go brittle and crack
