Would some kindly soul please tell me the dimensions of a standard exhaust stud for a 1989 1.9DG.
I know they're M8, but what is the length of thread in the cylinder head,what is the length of the blank section and again how long is the bit after the exhaust pipe flange ?
I'm getting a box of stainless ones in at work (a free set for the lucky winner

)
Cheers in advance,Ian.

40mm I think etos don't give dimensions, but the bolts are 30mm so studs 40mm to take nut.

be careful with stainless as it isn't as good as normal studs in tension. You are more likely to snap off a stainless stud when tightening up.
Then let me watch you drill that out!
Your better off using steel studs and copper nuts.

Ta for the answer andylen,much appreciated, I'd thought the bolt was 40mm and have them from 20 - 50mm in 5mm increments in stock already. Cheers anyway.
Cheers Simon,what would you recommend instead then,regular HT studs ? What I'm trying to do is gather together a one-hit recon kit for when our exhaust needs replacing. i.e. engine out, on the bench,and replace any and all ancilliary nuts,bolts,skt hd's,studs,washers etc with stainless (coated with copper-slip) and also copper aerotype nuts for the exhaust-engine faces.
I must admitt I didn't realise that stainless would be brittle at these low torques. Any idea of the actual size required ?
Cheers,Ian.
