All things considered, that's still got to equate to one hell of a profit margin.

They're selling 'Kudos'... like owning a work of art

It's as if the prospective owners want one more thing than the last added to the list of embellishments, visible , discernible or not (the rather comprehensive warranty for instance)

They're also selling 'an experience', that of owning 'the best' T3 around.

There's obviously a market and GoWesty (and to some extent Smallcar) are filling it (or should that be fullfilling it?)

As far as I'm concerned the more and the better the condition is, of Syncros and Transporter T3s around in the world the better...

I have heard tell that one cannot import second hand vehicles into the States unless its 30 years old. Is this correct? If not then we could have a good route to sell our syncros for good money

Sounds a strange one to me

You can import into the states but it is a minefield and costs minimum of 10000 us dollars.You have to use an official import company.

I think its 25 years+ when it gets easyer. Early Land Rover 110's are now 25 and I suspect at that point alot will head over to the states, especally the V8's which don't fetch much here. The Huddersfield Land rover centre has a few V8 110s in the corner with signs on saying they are going to be exported, been there over a year - waiting till they are 25 and therefore worth money. Landys are rare in the states so people hapilly pay well in excess of £20k to restore and then export an old wreck from the UK. Syncro is probubly a simular neash market too. They seem to like clean examples, money no issue.

One of my many aims/plans/dreams. To drive a fully kitted syncro across the US. What a country to see! A friend drove his fully sorted 70's LR camper from Florida to Alaska.

Funny they sell for that though. Lots of neat looking Syncro campers on the Samba.com between $20, $25K mark.

25+ still the same import hassle.It even gets worse when trying to import say into california(if you live there). Some states are very difficult near impossible.
And above the 10 000 you will pay tax aswell.
I was very close to sending my westy to a guy in the states but someone else beat him to it.

So Russel, what's the 10,000 for?

For having the company that can import,paperwork,US registration,relevant tests and a few changes to make US legal.
