crank and flywheel ID

I have a crank/flywheel in my modded 1776CT engined heap that I think is from a 1.9L or a 2.0L engine. There is no part number on the crank that I can make out however the flywheel has 025 105 273 stamped on it.

Looking at VAGCAT turns up nowt :( can anyone help me ID the crank/flywheel please?

The flywheel is a 5 bolt affair NOT the single bolt jobbie I would expect to see (unless VW changed it through the CT run which is likely!)

The crank measures up as :-

230.00 recess for clutch plate
75.00 oil seal/shim flange
Measuring up the flywheel the part number seems to be:-
- 025 - T25/T3 part
- 105 - from flywheel edge to one of the 5 retaining bolt hole edges
- 273 is the measurement for overall diameter minus starter motor teeth

Main bearing sizes on the crank are (working from flywheel)
1 - 60.00
2 - 55.00
3 - cant measure yet as not stripped
4 - 40.00

There is a chance that the crank has been re-ground.

Conrod's are default CT's (I think)

Please help or point me off to a site that has the info

thanks Doug

Hiya Dug  Look for colour splodges on the crank ... 2.1 DJ has green, 1.9 blue or red. If it's a 228mm clutch flywheel then it's a later 1.9 or 2.1 flywheel.

Do the bearings have any part numbers?

Could be a Laurie Pettit special.. I believe he uses an early 1.9 crank in some sort of type 1 "conversion".. worth asking him

Will be calling him this evening hopefully

The crank does indeed have green paint on it suggesting it's a 2.1 DJ crank

watch this space (or the back of the bus once I fire it up after sorting it!hehe)

If its 2.1 crank it aint gonna be 1776cc........ 1.9 =69mm stroke, 2.1 = 76mm stroke....

If it's a dull 'army surplus' green then it's likely a DJ.

Now I'm confused. It's got dull green paint on it but has a 69mm stroke! :?

Had a long chat with Laurie Petit (Think thats who his name is spelt!) and looks like I have a 1.9 crank/flywheel with an engle 110 cam

anyone else with a modded CT engine NEEDS to speak with Laurie - not only is he a really nice chap to talk to he really knows his stuff with these engines - if you read this Lauire I can't thank you enough :D
