hi,
i have just changed gearbox from a 5 speed to a 4 speed !
Had so much trouble with previous box(it was reconditioned twice!!)
i hoped going back to original box would sort my problems but alas!

Now havin problems engaging gears and not sure what i need to change in order for the 4 speed to work properly.it engages sort of but is very sticky ,reverse is ok!! :?
i would like to go above 10 miles an hour!! and get into 2nd gear!!

this is a 1600 diesel 1986 model.

thanks for reading.xxx

have you bolted the rear support bracket on the correct side of the flange on the gearbox...........

its a common mistook, and makes selection awkward to say the least!

the gatebox under the stick is different for a 4 and 5, but shouldnt make much difference downgrading

oh, bugger...... i cant remember now...... haha, sorry, i think it should be on the front of the flange, the flange is about 10mm thick, and makes a big difference to the selection, hopefully somepone will be along who can remember, before morning, or i will crawl under my bus and look for you, in the mud and sugarbeet here in the flatlands

well the ladys' computer has crashed,
but upon closer inspection of the underneath
of her van it appears 'the gear change thingie' comes
out from the front at an angle for some reason & is
rubbing against the hand brake cable!
hopefuly just something come loose, fingers crossed :)

Hurray!Computers fixed! :D

NOW for van, still got problems engaging any gears have tried bracket on both sides but doesnt aid my problems! :?

Have looked on other t25s and its all in a straight line from the selector to the box but mine goes off at an angle and then goes thru a bracket that looks like it mite have been welded on at some point!!

So am now at a loss as too why gears are so hard to engage .tried adjusting linkage and that doesnt seem to make a difference either!

Any ideas,suggestions???anything???
Thanks
