DJ cutting out.

2.1 DJ, Autobox,

Been running fine,
Just swapped the spark plugs, and now it ocasionally cuts out at idle!!!!
I've set the idle a little higher 1000-1100 revs, but it still does it.
Always restarts imediately, Never misses a beat driving.

When I stop it doesent seem to hunt, or miss, but suddenly the revs will drop, sometimes the engine will recover, sometimes not.

I've checked everything is connected and tight., but noticed the CO setscrew is missing from the air box (I'll post a pic when pbase is back online)
Is this the cause? what does the little bugger look like?
Has anyone got a spare......

There should be a setscrew 6mm iirc in the hole on the metal part of the air flow meter, some say there was a plastic bung ontop of that, but most are now missing and I have never seen one. If the bung is not in place it wont make a jot of difference.

Cutting out at idle.....mmmm....sounds like the troublesome idle stabilisation getting it all wrong. By-pass the system by connecting the two black plugs like for doing the timing, and see if it goes away.

I've not got a plug or a setscrew.

i had a similar problem with it cutting out after running just fine.

turned out i had a bad positive terminal from the battery, as well as bad earth straps. Turns out after i'd replaced the positive terminal(before the earth straps) it never cut out again (touch wood).

hope this helps

I really dont know......

I suspect that when I changed the spark plugs, I may have put the airbox upsidedown on the Rd. It may have fallen out,
I've looked and looked, but Nothing.....

Are you sure it's not covered by a whole pile of old crud, a dig around with a small screw driver might reveal it.
