Hey guys, taking my 1700 LHD '90 panel for it's MOT tomoz and the squirters for the windscreen don't work.
I've checked the fuse box panel but can't see anything for the washer motor.
Any ideas which fuse it would be?
also the heater switch doesn't work, I know it won't fail the MOT on this but, could this be linked fuse wise?

both on same fuse iirc.
washer pump often suffer corroded contact and wires, and often sieze too.
heater fan more often than not is the switch
fuse is 20amp, no.13, iirc

if you cant hear the pump, its either a wire off, or corroded or the pump is fubar'd
check for power at pump when switch is operated with bulb and wire or multimeter, if power is getting there, check pump-
introduce a known power feed and earth to the pump and check it works.

Just got mine working and as suspected it was the contact that should be made between two small metal strips just above the RHS of the steering column above the washer/wiper stalk. Take off the upper plastic housing above the wiper/indicater area and check when u pull the stalk up that these two metal strips make contact, mine were worn. Bit of cleaning up with sandpaper and careful bending in the correct direction sorted it out, hope helpful.

We had same trouble with washer pump - I've got a post on here somewhere.
I tried the switch connectors, but after shoving a screwdriver in there and seeing smoke spiralling up, I thought I wasn't helping things lol.
We suspected the motor/pump as we heard nothing when trying the pump. We replaced pump (about £7) from GSF - VW had changed the layout of the connectors, so Bankroller cut the old wires and reconnected with new spade connectors/chocolate block. That cured the problem.
Didn't pass the MOT - but didn't fail on the washers
