Hello all,

I have an aaz conversion that has a small leak at the lowest part of the sump. I have purchased a new gasket from GSF but it is very thin compared to the one that is already on. I would like to remove the sump clean the surfaces and refit with new fasteners in the hope that this will stop the leak. Has anyone had any experience with this type of leak? Also how do i get at the fasteners at the forward end of the sump that appear to need a special long alan key, is there a specific tool for this or is it a case of fabricating something? All advice appreciated.

Unfortunately yes. I resorted to putting thread lock on the sump bolts so they dont come loose.

Yeah - a long alan key - one of those with a rounded end is best....

TBH, i'd first try (if you havent already) tightening up the existing bolts and seeing if that works - just dont overtighten as they can shear off quite easily...

If it has the gasket with the sump bafle fitted to it (as long as it is modified slightly)THIS IS NOT THE WRONG GASKET but a far better gasket to use as it prevents oil surge up the bores.
We have done extensive experimenting on this.
And if the sump is fitted correctly in the first place then there is no twisting.
Try tighten slightly first.

I stand corrected...

Was told about the difference in thickness in gaskets made the sump bolts (from the gearbox) slightly off which could cause a twist....

The difference in thickness is minimal if taking the bore size in the bellhousing bolt holes into account.(bellhousing bolt holes are bigger than the bolts allowing some play)

I'm in process of converting an AAZ, when I swop the sump over from the JX, what gasket do I order? Who is the best supplier?

Russel can you tell me what size the alan bolts are as i am going to get a set of stainless ones from a a fasteners I know. That should allow me to tighten them up with a reduced risk of sheering and or thread stripping, this with thread lock should give me a good seal.

The thread size is 6mm by 1mil pitch.
The length of the bolt not including the head is 20mm long.
The allan head size is 4.
