Working round electrics

My great Westfalia - well the electrics have known better days. I am working my way round, scratching my head.

CAn anyone point me to an idiots guide as to how to:

1. Step by step get the damn espacher working. The fan goes for about a minute - no heat, and then it cuts out. (I have changed the battery, so the leisure is good for 12 volts!)

2. How can I tell if the fridge is ok or not? The gas won't light, but is there an easy way to find out how dead or not the whole thing is?

Thanks in expectation.

Really for starters - can someone tell me how the westfalia installed eberspacher actually works? When I switch it on, it clicks once and then I can hear a fan. But where would the heat come out if it were working? Don't suppose anyone has an English manual?

Thanks

The eberspacher heater is the model B2L if anyone had an electronic manual or the like, or guidance. Cheers

Dartmoor,
I do not have a Westie or an Eberspacher, but there is some info in the wiki that may be of interest.............

Thanks - that's a good article. Potentially sorting a 27 year old eberspacher sound a nightmare. So any view on the blackcat heaters - at £30 looks a better bet?

turn the ebber on, leave it a while see what happens, it will need a bit of time to heat up, the fan will wuur, and then you'll hear a clicking like a loud clock, that's the fuel pump, then shortly afterward it should start blowing out heat.

don't give up on it just yet, if it works it's one of the best ways to heat a van!
