Brake Caliper repair kit

Hi all..... wondered if anyone knows what is included in the GSF brake caliper repair kits? is it the dust cover and seal only, or the piston too? or is the piston going to be a main dealer part?
changed my discs and pads, but have one caliper which has a piston that's reluctant to push back and is dragging slightly, its def the piston, and not the sliding pins (its the single piston type, later caliper)
after a look at the piston when the dust seal is rolled back, its very slightly pitted with rust spots, but no fluid leaks yet, is the best bet a new piston, and seal kit, or can the piston be cleaned up and re used if the pitting is only slight?
thanks for any comments/help on this.

iirc it is only the seals that come with the kit, if the piston is sticky then it is usually the rubber seal going hard combined with pitting on the piston. A new seal and a polish of the piston and bore will most likley restore service. Very often just working everything gets things moving. The tolerance of the bore is not too bad because the rubber makes the seal, so you can polish and hone a fair bit. Shows how important changing the brake fluid is. GSF and the like to recon calipers quite cheap compared to modern stuff. If you do one side I would do the other aswell, to keep a good brake balance.

thanks for that info, tried G-clamping the piston fully back, then pumping it out again, repeated a good few times which freed it up a little, but not enough to cure the binding, so as you say, a seal kit, piston cleanup. and a fluid change while i'm at it seems in order. ta for the advice :)

Recon calipers aren't that expensive, I never mess with them, just whack recons on and have done.
You could spend ages messing about with them and it still never be right, it depends on if you value your time or not?!

that would save another half a day peeing about, £58 + vat from GSF, may well go for that option.

dude, did you find out if the dust boot is supplied with the calippo repair kit? mine has a little rip at the lip where the caliper barrell gets fatter.

also, is this seal just a dust seal or does it function to hold any sort of brake fluid in it? or is the brake fluid on the back side of the pistern?

how easy is it to separate the pieces of calipa to get this piston out for rebuilding, what sort of attachments holding them together?

cheers.
