Razting asked me how wires were connected for T25 fitted with golf 90amp alternator: Sorry its out of focus but you get idea:

It should say RED under nut - not red/brown

On mine, brown isn't even connected - so no idea whether thats important but been like this a year without issue. I would imagine its just an earth.

Only thing you have to change really is the pulley wheel otherwise its a straight swap.

What engine is in the T25 ?

I fitted a new Petrol type Golf alternator to my DG (1.9 flat 4 water cooled) powered T25 a while back when I broke down in Castleford and it was like for like on the wiring.

We did have to swap the pulley over and we had a heck of a job getting the old one off, even with loads of heat, a big vice, and a hammer !! Very helpful back street supplier / garage that was, you wouldn't have got all that help at XYZ motor factors.

DJ's come with 90ah as standard, as per above pic, but i think if you buy one now it comes with derv pulley fitted and you have to change them.....

And here's me thinking mine was somthing special! Mind you it don't half squeel after a night with the internal lights and TV etc. But I don't like overdoing the belt tension out of defference to the water pump bearings.

The petrol Golf/Jetta/Scirocco 90a alternator is the same but there's a spacer and different pulley.

Its a bog standard 1.9 watercooled. Only reason I posted pic is cos I was PM'd about connections if using golf one. The original alternator was a plug/socket.
