I am after a washer jet for the rear screen, the only one that I can find at a reasonable (?) price.

Or do what we would do, buy something with a similar type of fit (size) and make it fit....

The one from JK is a genuine VW part as it is almost identical to the front washer jets I purchased for my van. It's not worth messing about trying to get other makes to fit.

hmmm, don't know on that ... not unless JK have changed the supply in the last few months?

I bought some from ebay, broke both fitting them so thought I'd buy the more expensive ones from JK ... the one's that turned up were exactely the same as the ones from Fleabay and I still ended up breaking one of the clips off!!! And if you really wanna split hairs ... the one's in the pic in the JK link have a textured finish, the ones they supplied don't.

Have you tried vw and gsf? Listed as £3 plus vat on gsf website, free delivery. Doesn't specify front or rear jet though.

genuine ones still available from vw ok so they are £4.22 plus vat each, but have proper brass inserts and generally last

remember also to drop the tank and clean out the residues that build up in there, road crap gets in as the filler pipe seal ages and the additives in things that peeps use as washer fluid can react with each other and produce intersting compounds which goo up the system. I'd blow through the lines as well before fitting the new ones.

It was a year ago that I bought the 2 front washer jets from JK & they were stamped VW. Iirc they were £3.50 each.

Thanks all for your input but I have cheated and bought a non VW one, with twin jets, with 5 metre of tube, for the time being.

The only problem that I have now is wiring it up

On the control arm that came with it you push it forward for the rear wiper but its not a solid switch action it just makes a contact then springs back again.

Confused as when testing the wiper motor I found that it has a constant wipe and a one wipe depending on which wire you stick the volts through.
Then you have the washer jet inself which is another live feed.

OK really having to think and really starting to boil my small brain

It would be easier if someone who has one could tell me how theres works, PLEASE

there's a relay required in slot 11 it's a number 72

Do the old vans with continental fuses have a slot 11 , found the relay Fleabay less than a fiver, so that 1 part covered, will get it in some how, I might as well do the intermitent while I am there .

All age vans use relay 72 (VW cars had them too so easy pickings from a scrappy as most cars had rear wipe, probubly for a quid), not sure where they go on early ones though.

Rear wipe is quite a cunning setup as it only uses 1 moment switch for everything (push stalk away, you need the posher stalk that has that function, a picture on it tells all). Tapping it turns on/off the intermitant rear wiper (they're always intermitant or off). Hold it down for wash/wipe.

The washer will be wired direct to the switch, as is the relay; the motor will be to the relay, it'll have a perminant live for it to park, the intermitant output from the relay to start it wipeing and an earth ofcourse.

If my van already has relay 72 should I wire into that ?
If my doesn't do I install one and wire all wipers to it ? or
Do I just get a 72 and wire it for the rear wiper ?

Another question is does the relay 72 also do intermitent for the front wiper ?

I think I am going to be re-wiring something somewhere

72 is only for rear wipers so if you've got one fitted thats what its for (or its doing nothing) - wire it up. Wire the wiper into the relay in its proper place, shouldn't be too hard, most workshop manuals have a diagram and the rear wipe is usally featured so that'll explain all.

Front intermitant is done by relay 19. If your van doesn't have intermitant its probubly got a metal bridging plate instead of a relay. If it has eather then swap for a "99", avalable from a scrappy and get hours of entertainment from being able to vary the intermitant delay. 99 relays seem more abundent than 19's in scrappys now as most 1990's dubs have them unless peasant spec. I've got about 4 now, I exchange them for pints.
