I built one for my CF which only added an inch and a bit to the height of the van when down but it was a hyrid construction of steel and wood and took quite a bit of making. It was based on an unfolding box with a roof panel which ran on sliders on the side panels and added nearly two feet to the height when erected. It did work well for about ten years after which I scrapped the van due to rarity of spares.

in a more help ful style you could always try a danbury style roof. it's basically a large grp baking tray turned upside down with four struts and a bit of canvas!

something like thishttp://shop.justkampers.com/product_inf ... s_id/10132

have a word with timber tech he might be able to get you a cap made or even sugest something else that will work!

I wasn't trying to be unhelpfull but foolishly take it for granted that others have my lifelong obsession for undetaking any job which seems even half feasable as a DIY project. As a result I have finished up at a right old age with knowledge, skills, stock and tooling enabling me to repair, build and somehow avoid paying the going rate for a wide range of stuff.
Lucky SWMBO has similar standard!
Sorry for that
