My 1Y arrives tomorrow, I think I've got the necessary bits for fitting it into me crewcab, sump oil pick up, inlet outlet manifolds, air filter from my 1.6 CX. However I read in this forum a flywheel swap is required. Why and :D has anybody got one they would like to convert into cash ?

Cheers

Yes - you need a T25 diesel flywheel!

Where is the 1Y from ?

They come up now and again on here, brickyard or fleabay.

I wouldnt pay more than £20 for one - but then im not in desperate need of one (just got one off a guy on Brickyard :) )

Be wary - im sure some flywheels advertised arent actually off t3s - you need to be sure the one you get is.

Does it need to be off the 1.6 CS or will the 1.6 diesel turbo one be ok

Just to let you know, i just finished installing mine this past weekend. Wasn't a 1Y though, it was an ADG industrial 1.9 . Do you know that the intake manifold will need to have some of the body bashed out or cut. I used a CS manifold which i had welded up so i could then match port it to the inlets of the head. Was worried that it may not flow enough, but after some tests it is sufficient. The next thing i did was to put a larger head on my injection pump. The one that came with the motor was 8 mm which is way too small for a truck. Found a 10mm which slipped on fine. Had to fiddle with the throttle/ governor lever , fuel screw and idle stop, but now goes like stink. Pulls past 5000rpm easily and lots more torque than the 1.7 KY i took out.

Thanks for the info, I'm going to use my CS manifolds, lacking a flywheel at the moment, any ideas ?
