I am looking for a pair of wheels to go on the rear of my van.

The only ones I have seen on here are the fwd style with low profiles.
What I am after is a pair with a deep dish to increase the track on the rear, which I intend to fit with 100 profile tyres and flared arches and raised suspension on the back (think I have sussed that one).

I recon 16 inch with 245 section 100 profiles would fill it out nicely, but any idea without buying new what would fit

Im unaware of anyone selling 100 profile tyres.
the standard aspect ratio is 82, usually rounded down to 80.
You'll strugle getting anything more than a 195/15 on the back due to the trailing arms.

Simon, I am widening the track....I want the tyres to stick out wider than the van, not inwards, so the arms shouldnt be a problem.


As for tyres I was running 225 full profile on my Range Rover last year so they are available

I've got 205-15's on the rear with no probs. Doesent rub anywhere and is nice and chunky. Seems there's loads of space if you want to go with a wider wheel as well.

A full profile as written on a tyre as 205 16 or 225 16 or 245 15 is in fact an 80 profile wich is classified as a standard profile unless otherwyse spesified.
I have personaly never seen or used 100 profile but i am shure it will exist on some extreem offroaders(with a price to match)
The biggest tyre u will manage to fit with spacers and modifying ure trailing arms is 235 75 15.(on raised suspension,syncro)

I am after deep dished wheels that do in fact sit outside of the standard wheelarches.

So what are the fatest tyres I can get on a standard rim, andwho has experience of spacers......are they safe?

Years ago I used to cut out the centre of the wheels if they were steel and weld them in something wider, or cut the wheel and band them, but this is frowned on nowadays.
These were standard beetle wheels banded to take 265 tyres and the centres cut out and replaced with reliant ones. How I miss having a machine shop nowadays

damn.....first van I have had with a side loader, cheers had forgotten about the side door.

Out with the tape tommorow to see how much it will be restricted. I want fat rubber but hate the chav look of low profiles and standard bodywork........trying to do something a bit different

you can get some sort of gadget that allows the slider to open out further from the van, but by how much I don't know

Higgy, your van looks great. What type are your wheels and what sort of drop do you have on the van? Did you need any mods to the wheel-arches etc to get those bad boys on?

Higgy what size tyres are you using?

That is the sort of width I am looking for, but on 80 profiles, that would jack it up a bit (and gear it up as well).


On the subject of 80 being the standard profile, does this apply to imperial sizes as well?
I have just picked up some new 7.50 X 16's for a mate and they seem as tall as they do wide which would give a 100 profile?

Hi the wheels on my van are ronnals 17x8.5 with a 13 mm offset the front
wheel arches have been rolled as the van is lowered on avo 60mm springs and dampers . I use 10mm spacers on the rear with longer studs and the front is straight on the tyre size is 235x45 all round.
i dont think you can get 80mm profiles on 17'' wheels

Higgy, did you get someone to do the work on the van for you? Thinking of getting alloys and a bit of a drop on my van - i there someone in central Scotland that would be good to do the work?
