Dropped suspension

Nigel has fitted the 45mm drop kit to the van today....but it looks like its on its knees

the front looks way lower than the back, I know i have smaller tyres on the front, but surely if the springs were changed on both front & back the difference between the two would be the same as before....

we used Jamex springs & shocks, will it 'bed in' over time? - has anyone else had this problem?

I think the Jamex kits are well known for their nose down stance.
I'm sure I read about it on BrickYard, probably in the lowering thread.
I bought a -45mm kit form a German Ebay seller. It had TUV cetificates with it etc but it is also lower at the front than the back. The front dropped quite a bit but the rear didn't drop much. It hasn't bedded in any since it was fitted either. I also think that this kit has reduced the usable load capacity of the van. I had 600kg of sand bags in last week and it was about nose on the floor despite loading them to the back. It should carry that without any problem (there's not much else inside).
As always you get what you pay for. I got 4 springs and four dampers for the same as it costs 4 AVO springs alone.
The pic doesn't show the full difference in level as it is parked on a slope making it look more level than it is. Having said all that it does drive well.

yes a common occurrence... it happened to richnewton and shep I think.

you can either put the standards back in the front...or drop the rear 60mm

As said elsewhere recently, this is the way you want it to handle and turn in better (front lower than rear), maybe that's why Jamex kits set them up like that.

Nice bus! I like it when you get the boat colour coded :)

Get those rears lowered mind - and dont be filling that van up with sand again. Tish, anyone would think its a panel van.

Love the skirt....

So did Top Gear make the mistake of not turning their bus upside down before trying to set sail?

Would we just have to buy the springs for the rear? If so, where can we get quality 60mm rear springs at a reasonable price?

all the springs I've seen come as a set (front & back) or with shocks

its really annoying Nigel now..........He's just made me stand outside in my dressing gown looking at Kneeling Minty for 10mins

You won't get rear springs on there own, not -60mm anyway, unfortunately it's a common problem with these and well known so it's a pity you didn't ask before buying them.

You could always try and sell them on and get some different ones.

-60mm are you mad!

Fine if you only drive on smooth A roads & dual carriage ways. But I you live anywhere like I do, its nothing but a pain in the a***, watching out for every bump & drain, things jumping off the dash if you do more than 10mph, trying to make sure you don't turn too sharply on un-even tarmac.
Forget that, its a bus not a 'ultimate driving machine'
Go stock....Go carefree!!

:D

IMO!

I like the look of lowered suspension and particularly like the "crouching ready to spring into action" look especially with big fat rears (Stupid on front wheel drive vehicles I know) But having bombed my Hightop in full "everything but the kitchen sink" order round the mountains in France without so much as a wobble I wonder at the degree of purely cosmetic influence in the decission to modify.
Cheers

me too!! One stock panel and one stock caravelle (which is factory lowered)

Hubby did his with the Jamex kit, and its nose down too......but he knew this would happen when we bought it, and it does look ok. Hard ride, though.

Steve, careful, you're sounding like a certain Syncronaut of old now, but without the hectoring :)
