earth the dizzy?

2.1 dj runnung on lpg with carb with unknown dizzy.

a couple of questions
1) can you tell if the dizzy is Aircooled from looking at it? (Will get the part number off it at the weekend)

2) should the dizzy be earthed?

(ok - think the answer to this is probably yes, as there is a little spade thingy on the body with nowt on it, and my other van has a good thick brown earth wire from the dizzy going into the main earth circuit.)

3) so if the answer to 2) is yes.....what happens from driving it for near on 3 years without it being earthed?

They have a earth tag, it's for a shielded dizzy cap and nothing to worry about.
A shielded cap reduces interfearance, probably a swiss thing, they love stuff like that they do.

so, leave it off, or put it back? What'll be affected by the interference?

(eg will I get baetter radio reception?!)

The earth tag is for a shielded dizzy cap, the cap plugs into the tag.
You do not need to earth your dizzy.
You need to do nothing with the tag, unless you have a shielded cap, in which case you would connect the cap to the tag.
