AAZ engine - diesel pump

Hi, fellahs. Am fitting an internal heater to my camper. It (the heater) is a Mikuni Japanese thing, looks just like an Eperschpacer, works the same way. Problem at the moment is where to tap into the diesel supply. The heater has its own little pump to lift the fuel once connected. The AAZ engine has a flexible low pressure hose coming from the fuel filter and going to the high pressure injector pump. There does not appear to be a separate lift pump anywhere in the system. It seems that the big fuel injector pump has a lift suction pump built into it at one end. Is this right? It works OK, never have any starting problems.
Assuming that it is does anyone know if I can cut into the low pressure feed and T off that to the little pump on the heater? The heater will never be used when the engine is running. I am wondering what the effect of pumping diesel out of the fuel line to the heater will be when when in use. Will it draw fuel away from the lift pump so that we cannot start the engine?
Second question. Apart from all of the heater business how do you bleed the existing system? There is no little lever that you get on a lift pump so far as I can see.
