Does anyone now how much the road tax will be for a syncro next year when the new tax brackets for 4x4's come in. I have had a look round a few sites but can't find much info...

AFAIK, same as always, as it only applies to stuff registerted after 2002, or a "52" plate, unless its changed......

I did think that was the case, but wanted to make sure before I get another Syncro. It will sit outside doing squat for most of the year, so didn't want to get stung even more than already.

Cheers.

What would that be? There is apsolutely nothing relating road tax with number of powered wheels, there is no plans for such a system. Its not possable as thats not recorded on any paperwork. A syncro is just like anyother vehicle that weighs less than 3.5tonnes gross and was registered between 1973 (half way through L suffix) and feb 2001 (X prefix) - If its over 1549cc its £185 and it'll go up to £205 next year or maybe the year after, those are fixed untill 2011 I think but they haven't said what they'll do then. Probubly try and tax the 10+ year old non classics off the road I suspect as when the expencive retrospective tax bands hit the Y reg or later cars there will be alot of 2002 cars being rung onto 2000 ID's I'm sure! They aren't going to make anything cheeper so thats the only way they'll stop it.
