Auto stalls when warm.

Hi, i have a 1.9 watercooler automatic. It starts up fine first thing and runs ok. After ive been driving awhile if i turn off the engine then restart maybe half an hour later, the engine stalls when i put it in gear. This is annoying!!! as the only way i can get moving is to rev it quite high and put it in gear, which is not good in traffic in an auto. Anyone have any ideas as to what the problem is? thanks
