Has anyone any ideas as to where I might source a starter motor for my Autosleeper 1.9 DG (petrol) Auto.
Not having much luck with my usual sources.
Thanks.

For an exchange starter motor try GSF or JK. Otherwise try a local company who recon starters.

There's a place in Maidstone. Em knows the name. They also trade on eBay under tierod ...hang on a mo' though. I think I've got a phone number somewhere. Let me, just, arrrgh, bugger!! sorry cat
Yessiree! 01622 685308 OR 01622 677662. Try giving them a call.
Or

They've always come up trumps for me. Whether for a Corolla, Fiat X1/9,
Merc C180 or my T25. Good for Mann filters too

not sure if they are all the same , but i took a motor from a 1.9 golf diesel and fitted that!
just need to elongate one of the mounting holes.
very easy and safe.
means you get a modern/newish starter that works a treat
our local scrappy would want 10-15£ for a starter!

Billy - that is interesting!
Do you think it would work for a manual engine??
Got 3 2.1s and no spare starter any more since john dropped one and broke the solenoid housing (if anyone has just the solenoid, I would be interested!)
Got an Aircooled starter....but don't think that would work?
Does it depend on the flywheel and number/spacing of notches etc?

Thanks for help.
I am getting there.
JK's are out of stock, GSF can do but total will be almost £190 (£40 surcharge if I don't post the old one back). Local recon's could only service existing unit as they said spares were unavailable.
Hillmart will do one for £140. No exchange reqd. so can drop the old one (solenoid) into Chatham if wanted.
CJ does not have one
Will tel. SCMF tomorrow
Bosch say there are none in the country.
Will keep you posted.

Sorry Em. Had to hand in the old unit so no spare solenoid.

Thanks Kentishvanman....I got all excited there for a second!!
Mocki....that's just it, I don't know.
And I don't know what would happen if we put it on and it was wrong.....
What has got to be the same? Will try and do some comparisons at some point.
