What power are the lights?
55W lamps will draw slightly less than 5A.
4 lamps will draw 20A, so you will need a 30A fuse. A standard automotive 30A relay will work fine.
You will need fairly thick wire.
If the lamps are larger than 55W then you could build 2 circuits and run 2 lamps off each circuit.

I would not do it like that. as the lights arn't fused only the switch
you can buy relay's with the fuse built in

no as a fused relay is already fused on the power side of the relay.

Ì suggest a fuse at battery on wire. Lots of amps in battery will fry/smoke wiring if it shorts before it gets to a fuse. I know lots of wiring isn't... and sometimes the smoke gets out of them.

Everything works fine until the smoke gets out of the wiring. Isn't that the way electricity works?

The Lucas replacement smoke is ok - if you like that good British bakelite aroma. Love the lucas headlight switch - Dim, Flicker, and off.

And I thought it was italian elastictrickery that was unreliable..
A fuse NEEDS to be as closethe the battery as reasonably possible... if anything goeas wrong you WILL have a fire.......
