DG Dizzy's - 2 types - what's the difference + vac pipes.

My "new" engine's dizzy is a bit different to the one off my old DG engine.

Fist pic = new one =

Old one =

As you can see the new one has 2 advance retard pipes.

Is it a better Dizzy ?

If so were do the 2 vac pipes go ? ( Haynes does not say )
I know one will go to the inlet manifold at the front left side of the carb as your looking at it, but which one ?

Perhaps I should stick my old one on, I know were I am with that one!

P.S. = Don't flashes make you stuff look grotty !!

one with two vacuum connections is a DJ 2.1dizzy, if you're engine is 1.9 and you are running carb then use the old dizzy

Use old single vac dizzy... (if vac unit working corrdtly) never seen a DG with 2 that was "factory".... I will stand corrected if there ever was one, but I have 2 "Factory" DG vehicles (1983 and 1992) and neither have a twin vac unit..

As I understand it, the dizzy itself is the same. The twin-vacuum unit is for a DG engine with a Solex carb on it - the oldest type of DG engine setup. Pierburg carbs only need a single vacuum advance.

Again, from my limited knowledge, all you need do is unscrew the twin-vacuum unit, fit the single-vacuum unit and you're good to go

The double outlet unit is also used on 2.1s ... most people running DJs with DG carb setup just blank off the rear-facing vacuum outlet.
