Starting on LPG

Hi there
I own a vw t25 1987 camper van. My question is can i start my camper van on LPG, from cold, for short distances , say 5 miles away, without damaging the vapouriser unit?

I start and run on gas no problem... but it does take longer to warm up because the vaporizer is using the heat for the gas.

the last time i bought petrol it was well below £1 per litre.........

On the very coldest mornings I prefer to let mine start on gas and warm up for a couple of minutes before I set off ... personal choice ... cos I is a nesh old git. BUT it ALWAYS starts on gas.
