Has anyone re-covered theres before? Any ideas on what material/fabric/carpet to use or not use?
Thanks guys

I have exactly the same problem, what is the best way of replacing the roof carpet, do you have to remove the original or can you just put new carpet over the top of the old, and how would you fix/glue it?

yeah i dont think i should remove the old carpet as it looks so firmly on and probably supplies some warmth and proper insallation. I may be wrong though :? :?
if poss my plan is to cover it with some crazy fur but am worried it might stop ventallation or go smelly.

I have been trying to work out the best way to do this for ages, I couldn't think of anyway of removing old carpet, how are you going to fix the "crazy fur" to the roof?

I am sure as long as the skylight is still there that there will not be a problem with ventilation.

I couldn,t remove the carpet as it is firmly stuck to the rough side of the fibreglass. Getting a good fix to the old bald carpet was a real problem.
I gave mine a good coat of vinyl silk emulsion (yuk I here you say) Then I bought some speaker cabinet carpet which is very thin from a gary boy motor spares shop and used spray glue to stick it to the vinyl emulsion when fully dry and this gave the carpet a really good fix.
Hope this helps and the guarantee only lasts as long as you can read my number plate :)
