Sliding Door rubber seal

Hi guys

Please could you advise me as to how the sliding door rubber seal should fit around the bottom of the body.

Ours is knackered but is pop riveted to the body at the bottom which surely isn't right. They've also used loads of mastic to try to hold it on. Just another bodge that needs correcting from the previous owners.

Can't provide photos of what I mean until Wednesday evening, but if you can explain and let me have a photo of what it should look like, I would greatly appreciate. It's a 1980 - don't know whether it is fixed differently to the later ones.

Thanks

Steve

there is a u shaped channel all round the door that takes the rubber...but common for it to rot away! Ermie has lost / is losing the first 2 inches where the door shuts.

Thanks Em, so the U shaped channel from JK is the way to go. Will get on and order some of that too then.

Here is the top of the seal behind the passengers right ear... You can see the metal lip that holds the seal into the u shaped groove that Ermie571 mentions. it nearly holds its self in.

Here is the front lower corner. Cant really see much though.

Here is the back corner.

And this is behind the lock mechanism, where I cut the seal which comes as a complete ring, to allow fitting without taking the sliding door off. I glued it here with Sikalex.

Hope this helps. I will look for photos without the seal in.

Thanks ever so much for the photos. Looks like all the channeling is there on ours until you get down to floor level. On ours the seal has just been pop riveted to the body from that point.

Have found some u channel on JK so will order some and do the job properly with a brand new seal methinks.

Now's the time to do stuff whilst she's in pieces.

Thanks again for your help it's greatly appreciated.
