Looking at replacing steering wheel on my '89 Caravelle
Will a MK 2 golf steering wheel fit
Yes, I know it will be too small, but I do have an aftermarket boss for a MK2 Golf, I wondered if this would fit my T25 as I'm considering making my own wood rimmed steering wheel.

'89 is crossover year, it may or may not fit.

Crossover from small spline (the same as used on the T25) to the larger more common spline that replaced it.
Some MK2 steering wheels do fit if they have this smaller spline OR the step down spline sleeve is used (you find these splined step downs on many VW models ie passats, golfs, jetta's)
The other problem is once fitted, the self cancel lug on the wheel is often just not long enough to reach the switch gear. Solve by raising said switch gear using small stand off posts (the same course threaded ones as used to mount a computer motherboard in a case) 3 are needed.
Sounds complicated but it really isn't, takes about 40 mins total for a first timer.

I ll have to try it then to see if it fits.
My son got the boss as it was supposedly going to fit his Mk1 Golf 1.3 Driver. It doesn't. Was then told it was for a Mk2 .The spline in the boss is WAY to big for his steering column. I know some MK1 golfs had big/small spline as I had the same prob on my Mk1 Caddy pick up !!!
Didnt know same applied to other VW's though !!!
cheers

Had a look tonite
the splined hole on the boss is bigger in diameter than across the points on the steering column nut !!!!!!
perhaps its NOT a VW boss at all ????
looks more like the size of the MK1 Fiesta boss that I have !! ??
will leave alone till after the weekend now
cheers
