Why does it always rain on me? (and leak into my van!!)

Hi,
My first post!!
We've recently bought a 1981 Hi-top T25. The interior was in a bit of a state so it has all been taken out and we have discovered that there is a leak somewhere in the high top. I have Sika-flexed the seal between the roof and the van, but it still seems to be coming in from somewhere?
A friend has suggested that the only option is to take the roof off and start again! This sounds a bit drastic and I really don't want to do this, but if I don't get it sorted soon I may end up single.
Does anyone have any pearls of wisdom to share or has anyone experienced this? Also how hard will it be to take the high top off?
Thanks

Hi mate,
common areas for leaks....around windows and vents. Got any of those?
Inspect the fibreglass for cracks - get the sikaflex out again.
Think you can paint the fibreglass with flexible paint - hammerite etc that will waterproof it.
Welcome to the wonderful world of t25 ownership

are you sure its the roof ? when your screen rubber perishes water will get in and run down behind the dash and into the footwell steps causing rot to the floor and steps . if this is what you are getting get a new screen rubber put in but be prepared to tackle the rot around the windscreen frame !

Move to the highlands - been haaving a great summer up here - yes even today when the south seems to be dissolving.
Best fix for wate rleaks - keep out of wet climates -

Where is the water coming in? ie: front, rear, N/S or O/S?. If it's at the rear it aint your front screen surround and vice versa.

Its coming in on the drivers side somewhere between the very rear and about half way along the gutters. I'm pretty sure it is where the high top joins the roof so I have sika flexed that again yesterday and I'm just waiting for some more rain now! (shouldn't have to wait to long for that)

couple of coats of Johnson roof seal paint in your gutters, mask a line first then just paint away. Cured my gutter woes, ( now just for the windscreen / front end / quarter light leaks)

At last we've had some decent rain down in the far west and the leak seems to be fixed (after spending almost as much on sika-flex as I did on the van in the first place).
So moving to Scotland wasn't necessary, but thanks for all the advice.
