Hello all,
just got me first t25 westy joker after early and late bay!! I have noted that the wbx 1.9 DG 78hp motor (2nd one - was originally DH) seems to have an earlier carb set up but on a later engine with late exhaust- the carb(not seen it close up yet) looksto be a solex 34 pict5. She runs nicely. pulls and drives well, cruises happily 65-70 so wondering- is the piergerb carb going to give me more torque, mpg or probs? Am i likely to have limited performance with my non-orig fitment and jetting? Is the solex actually simpler and I should just count blessings-. Thanks.
I'm planning LPG gassure conversion some time.

dear all, any help greatly appreciated being totally unfamiliar with these engines and various things that would have been done to them. I now know from the engine code plate origianlly the van was DF and has had a new engine DG fitted at some point so I'm guessing they swapped the engine but kept the DF carb so in teory may be better mpg??? but also could be lean and restrictive? ta

Don't know if I can offer much help but....
I am (hopefully today!) getting our van back with a DG engine that was a replacement in a pickup previously fitted with a DF.
Having had my own DG Gassed by Steve - we noted the carbs were different (I assume the orig carb went onto the DF replacement) to the garage were swapping to the DG carb from my engine to refit the Gas kit to.
As I am getting the dead engine and all ancillaries back - I will know more later (and prob have a bunch of spare bits......)

thanks Mikey.
could be very sueful to know what difference and any feedback from the fitter if VW oriented/interested! Of course if u also have a spare, half-decent pierburg 2e3 and manifold etc afterwards i would be interested as well. good luck and thanks.

NB I've tried a few places and syncronutz put me onot a guy near the borders who they think does a replacement kit or conversion of some sort- perhaps webber? I plan to speak to him soon.

if the van is running sweet leave it, i would imagine it may be slightly down on power with the solex as opposed to the pierburg but only when your foots down, in my experience pierburgs have allways given me grief and need a constant cleaning out or fettling, maybe ive been unlucky, my current bus has the solex carb set up and is very simple to maintain and has "up to now" given me no problem apart from a blocked idle jet which i believe is a common problem , but a 2 minute fix.... i would leave your van alone whilst its running well...

I have two 2e3 carbed T25's.. apart from a rebiuld on 1 (the other will be done shortly) the only problems I have had are due to water in the fuel system (not a carb fault) oh and thats in a combined mileage of over 200,000 miles that I have driven...
