Hi - Anyone know of a good machine shop near Brighton/Burgess Hill that would be able to machine my block and heads ready for a 1776cc conversion? Any help much appreciated....
If you dont, do you know of any VW garages that might be able to help with a local machine shop in this area?
PS - Yeah, I know its a CT engine, Yeah, I know they are meant to be cr*p, and Yeah I dont care':lol:'

I just googled and came up with these two;
RemTec
Hollands Lane, Henfield, West Sussex BN5 9QY
Tel: 0845 8737281
L & R Engineering
Unit 10, Sussex House Industrial Estate, Old Shoreham Rd, Hove, East Sussex BN3 7DX
Tel: 01273 770303
RemTec do VW rebuilds, so may be a good choice?

I thoroughly recommend QEP Engineering on Tidys Yard Industrial Estate, Ditchling Common, near Burgess Hill. They are in the book. The work they did on my heads was fantastic in all respects....

Hi Fairwinds & The Runner.
Thats great. I can pop down to Ditchling Common tomorrow and speak to QEP, if they are open, and will let you know what they say.
Funnily enough, RemTec are linked to the Volkswagen Heritage, and they (both of them) have relocated from Henfield to Burgess Hill. This is where I bought my 1776cc Barrels and Pistons from!! I asked them about a local machine shop when i brought the kit and they did not know of one??
Cheers - Christian

Hi - Contacted QEP and they said they could do the heads but not the block (spoke to Nick) - recommended Gosnay's in Romford.
Just thought you might like to know.

Just had another thought.....try phoning Bonner Engineering at Shoreham Airport. He's really old school, and made his name building old race car engines. He's got all the kit and may be what you are looking for? Worth a call (sorry, dont have tel no to hand tho).
