New to the camper scene.

Is it acceptable to store an unconnected partially used gas cylinder ( Campinggaz 907) on its side underneath the passenger front seat, Or is the on its side storage dangerous/un acceptable ??

Your typical 3.9Kg and larger should be kept upright according to what I have read in order for them to vent correctly if the pressure builds up, the smaller camping Gaz 907's will probably be fine. We had a Bay which came with two fitted on their sides and never had a problem in all the years we owned it.

If I was the passenger... I wouldn't want to be sitting on a gas cylinder!... possibly next to the leisure battery? Mind you it could be a good cure for piles! Put it upright in a vented cupboard away from potential hazards you'll sleep better... and so will we!

Seems OK to me...so long as when you come to use it you stand it upright for some time before you connect it up. If it were going to go, it would go whether it was standing or lying down.

We carried Oxy/Acet bottles on their sides on the breakdown truck for years, but always stood them up for a while before using them.

Anyone in the trade that has ever picked up refilled bottles from British Oygen depots will know how the 'proffesionals' handle the bottles, it could be very jaw dropping.

also vouch for BOC

I regulary unload banks of Nitrogen, thats 18 cylinders ( big ones) in a metal cage, using FLT and yes BOC treat them rough.
Also unload smaller nitrogen oxygen etc and the delivery drivers literally throw them about.



PS Camping gaz 907 cylinder will fit under passenger seat on its side. Away from leisure battery but close the the seats electrics !!!

would only be fro transportation as plan to cook outside as no stove fitted into van nor plans to do so. disadvantage of a tin top with no pop up as cant stand up in it !!!
