Sneaky Wiring
Posted: 25 Aug 2008, 14:04
I've been slowly working away to try and uncover how my vans camping interior has been wired. When i bought the van none of the interior electrics such as the fridge and water tap pump worked. Nothing was connected mind you and i have been trying to find what wire goes where. However heres the problem, the sneaky wires diserpear into the body of the van never to emerge
The van i have is a 1983 camper. I don't know exactly what model it is, just that the interior seems to be factory fitted or at least professionally and it used to be a pop top, but is now a tin top. The only clue is the badge on the back that says 'Camping' and not caravelle like some i have seen.
Heres what I mean

these three wires, (Black and red) and green are connected to a relay that is in the main battery compartment. Thanks to a peoples help on here I've managed to trace the black and red wire to the fridge 12V. However it is the green which baffles me.
However on looking at the drivers door pillar near the door catch these wires appear

Is this the green wire from the relay? The black wire i think may contain a red and black wire, but it is of a different gauge to the wire which goes from the main battery compartment. These three wires the go vertically up the pillar never to be seen again
Now i have managed to locate which wire actually goes to the tap water pump, but the 12V feed it needs to work, again like before disappears never to be seen again.

Do any of you guys have a tap pump that is wired anywhere?!
And finally the van seems to be wired for a leisure battery and has a split charge relay wired in, and I've looked at the wiki and it looks to correspond to that, however nothing is actually wired to it, apart from this blue and red wire that again disappears down a hole and away

Can anyone shed any light on the disappearing wires?
Thanks
Steven
