Hi
having read on here the recent discussions on plug gaps etc....

A couple of services ago I put in the triple electrode (NGK) plugs.
Have felt van has been 'wooly' and lacked and 'ooomph'. Didnt think it could be plugs (only done couple of thousand miles) untile I read on here a debate re single v triple electrodes.

Who needs plugs that are designed for modern engines with 20k plus service interval when you do 5k per year max!

So....

yesterday I put the good old Bosch single electrode standard plugs in.
Zooooooom! Weird - it feels like its made a real difference!

Oh, and one comment was made re coils with green/grey stickers....
one for electronic and one for points ignition???? (local VW mechanics sugesstion, not mine!)

Either way, Im now sticking to the single electrode jobbies!

I always use the single electrode ones, and if running on LPG, I am told definitely NOT to use the 3 point ones.

My thoughts exactly! I think marketing hype can often overtake the every day reality of how these old gals are used nowaday's. There is also the added benefit of being able to adjust the electrode gap which when you think about it is a real plus, this is because all modern engines use higher voltage coils with resulting larger electrode gaps, so; a modern multi-electrode plug with pre-adjusted 'large' 1.00mm plus non adjustable gaps is argueably not ideally suitable for the relatively 'low' output ignition systems found on our 20 year old plus vans, especially those fitted with CB points systems.
