Ignition Barrel removal

Hi Guys,

I recently bought a new lock set for my van, inclusive of a new ignition barrel.

I attempted the removal of the old barrel yesterday, starting by removing the steering wheel, then undoing the allen bolt which secures the ignition housing from the steering colum. I then pulled the ignition housing from the steering colum, and that's as far as I got :(

I just cant figure out how the ignition barrel itself is removed from the housing.

It would be great if somebody can help, as I can eventually have one key that works all locks, and of course, this pesky igntion grrrrrrr.

Any advice very much appreciated :D

I believe......you have to drill a small hole in the aluminium housing in order to press in a spring clip retainer.
The exact dimentions of where you need to drill this hole???.....anyone!
It's one of those things that I'm sure I've done before (maybe 20 years ago) lol

Thanks for that Martin.

I guess I'll be able to figure out where I need to drill the hole by holding the new barrel against the housing and placing a mark where the clip is.

I'll post dimensions/picture of where I drill the hole when I've done the job, just in case anybody else needs to do the same

I believe there is a diagram with dimensions in the "Bentlley Manual".
Sorry I haven't got one to have a look for you.
Perhaps someone with one could help, the question has been asked a few times recently.

Yes, there is a diagram, I can see it in my head but can't remember the drill point location.
Don't guess! this is an exacting point like digging for a treasure chest somewhere under a football pitch...you need the two measurements.

2 or 3mm hole, 10mm from the rim and then 10mm from the seam, top side. between the collar with the bearing in it and the barrel. As you look at it there are the 2 screws at the top, 1 screw fixing at the bottom.
