I'm a welder and am interested in buiding my own stainless exhaust for my 1.9 wbx t25.

Im happy with the fabrication etc but interested to kno if anyone knows the internal construction of silencers?

Are they a tube running the length of it with holes in and wadding surrounding it? Do the stainless systems run less deadening?

What internal bore and wall thickness do most systems use?

Who are the majpr manufacturers to have a look at?

Quite a bit available on Ebay - just been browsing. I guess its dooable but maybe cutting open a knackered but otherwise standard exhaist might help. Thinking of doing the same as it goes - in sections.

TA, i'll have a look later, had a look at the jp exhausts.

Excellent, Yeah Unfortunately the last place i worked had a mandrel bender, so would have been handy! But thinking prebent bends the same. Have you looked into material costs much??

When mine needs replacing i think i'll cut mine open too.

Looking at the chinese TIG inverters on ebay too :? £100 ....

Have a squint at the Turbo Thomas website, they do individual parts for building your own exhaust and are very helpful to boot.
