I know its to do with the water tank underneath the Camper but what does it actually do? And what is it called?
Its got in / out on either side of it btw.

I had to dismantle the watertank, as I thought there was a leak but found breather holes on the top of the tank to be the cause. Cleaned it all up and rust-treated the brackets and other bits that were slightly worse for wear..now have to put the d**n thing back lol

I think you will find that it is a Non return valve (NRV).... the Yanks call them 'Check Valves'.
Allows flow one way only, the idea being to keep the water pump primed, I do believe.

Some new stainless steel hose clips wouldn't go amiss...especially underneath van.

chrisray,

Just Kampers currently nil stock the blue hose.... expecting supply Monday next (I think it said).
Can't find one of those NRV's though, C.A.K. tanks is one possiblity.

Reminds me of one of our store keepers in Abu Dhabi who would always reply Not awailable to any request for a part.

No...you got the wrong drift... just suggesting a new 'what is it' picture game where anybody posts a picture of their parts (personal!) and we all have a guess and a good laugh...beats van parts anyday! Guaranteed to scare horses and frighten the children!

I always thought it was a filter. (it has a gauze in it and nothing else).

I've never been able to find one - so now go without...

Many many many many years ago I used to help run the original Tendring VW owners club (then in Harwich). Every month Frank (Frank's Bus Parts) used to present a large tray covered with a sheet. Underneath were various VW parts which you could only identify by feel. There were all sorts under there including small but unique O rings etc.

Anyway, one week we were really foxed by the last one and admitted defeat. Frank lifted the sheet and it was.....

A ford Anglia rear light!

This is a good one to do at any VW club actually - especially if you've had a few.
